Ever so often I play a game where I have to wrap 10 things from my wardrobe which also has a casual sub name of 'Fashion Show'. This can/should include dance music and red wine. I have A LOT of clothes due to work- Always shopping for others mean you can't help grabbing something awesome for yourself as well as often getting invites to movie wardrobe and sample sales. It's also hard to decide what to keep as every few months I'm in a different office with various heat and air con issues, various wardrobe trucks with blasting heat or chilly dampness, or a studio show in the city where I can wear pretty dresses because the temperature is just right. This 'If you haven't worn it in 1 year, dump it' philosophy does not (never) apply. So as I was packing for another film adventure up north, I was inspired to do a new purge. A camo sequin Michael Kors dress that my hair kept getting caught in just worn on NYE, a vintage mustard mohair sweater I wore every day in the winter of 2000, a North Carolina sweatshirt I was forced to buy in their airport because of an extended and heavily air conditioned layover, a black satin NWT BCBG gown from outlet shopping in Buffalo (I will never wear black to a formal event again), and many pairs of skinny jeans (so over them!). You should try playing the game for yourself. You get to try on things in your closet and re-imagine them (and therefore yourself), make more space to see what you love, and gloat over your favourites you will never let go. It's a way of de-cluttering not only your closet, but your life as well. Additionally, you can feel great about sharing such stylish jams with a charity of your choice or do a clothing swap with your buddies.
